Vogue make V8974 in Divine 'by Gertie'

I love all of the designs in the Charming collection 'by Gertie' for Michael Miller fabrics and it took me ages to decide on which fabric I wanted the most to a make a dress from.
When I finally decided on  the ‘Divine’ in blue, I opted for this vogue pattern with its unfussy styling and I thought this would be a perfect match and a nice add to my wardrobe.

When I did my quick search online to find out if there was any pitfalls to this style -the main moan's, were making sure the bodice fitted at it's a darted bias cut style and thus the fit need a little work and the zip is a true pain to put in. (oddly.. I didn't have too much of a problem with that.)

Welcome to the new home of a 'a Mad Seamstress'

Hi- I am Maree - a Mad Seamstress!

I love to sew and make bold statement clothes.  My husband says I am the queen of the one wear make.  (Either, that or he never wants me to wear it again, as it's so loud it stands out like a sore I have sewn all my life and love creating things that bring a smile to peoples faces.

This year I have decided it's time to share my love of beautiful fabrics with the world in my shop 'a Mad Seamstress' and create my sewing blog about my own adventurous makes using some of these beautiful fabric and sharing my skills with my YouTube tutorials.

The Rita blouse featuring Glitter Critters! Get all your hedgehogs in a row 🤣😂🤣🤪
Rita from Gerties Charm Patterns, is one of my season staples and my fabic of choice has been 'Quills' in aqua from Michael Miller fabrics.
I do think, of these little fellows, as more of a hedgehog. -I live in the UK- but my Aussie upbring thinks of them more as porcupine or a spiky ant eater.
Either way, depending on where you live in the world, I think this spiky little creature is rather cute and has been turned into a fabulous print, that should be embraced and worn on summer days.

A border print jump suit! with a side serve of pattern hacking.

After seeing Cadence in her border print jump suit, I was sew inspired and just had to have one. I went pattern stash hunting as I contemplated what fabric I had in my shop and my personal stash that I could use to create my own.
For my fabric choice I opted with the Michael Miller Les Jardins border print and then pattern hacked my way to a jumpsuit.I have mixed two patterns vogue 8872- which is now sadly a discounted line and was purchase because I love the asymmetrical bodice style and had always planned to use this pattern for a jumpsuit. For the pants I went with McCalls M7167.
